TERRY KASURI is a series of textile wall panels, made from linen yarns sourced from industrial dead-stock.

The Japanese kasuri technique creates a specific pattern by partially dyeing the yarns before weaving the fabric. This process requires meticulous calculations. This project is a series of experiments of finding the balance between a calculation and chance.

The yarns are dyed with traditional indigo dye following a mathematical rhythm of proportions, instead of a predefined design.

Once knitted, hypnotising patterns appear randomly. The design transforms, and develops under the eyes of the creator. It is the material itself and the little flaws that originate from artisanal dyeing that define the final pattern.
